Why Our Films Are Different

Great erotic movies take the time to let viewers really get inside a character’s skin using these four elements:

  • Relationships: Sex takes place within some kind of relationship, whether the individuals know each other well or if they just met. If movies show the relationship, viewers understand what’s happening and believes that it’s happening to real people.
  • Motivations: Everyone brings their own desires, hopes, and insecurities to every sexual experience. Erotic films are more fun and more fulfilling if you can see those motivations.
  • Sexual narrative: Every sexual experience in real life is unique. Even with the same two participants, each experience tells a story with subtle changes of power, non-verbal communication, and words that relate directly or indirectly to their outside-the-bedroom lives.
  • Sensation: The best part of a real-life sexual experience is being touched. Using certain cinematic techniques, an erotic film can let you “feel” sensations the characters feel, rather than a vague “turned on” feeling. For instance, feel the warmth of your partner’s skin or a gentle hand on the back of your neck.

We want our movies to especially appeal to women. Erotic films are fun, stimulate positive energy, and women in particular deserve more opportunities for this type of experience. We ensure our erotic films:

  • Appeal to savvy women who love the aesthetics of independent art film and who are turned off by the aesthetics and clichés of male-oriented porn.
  • Provide an emotional context to relate to the characters.
  • Include images that appeal to many women. For instance, lingering on a sexy man’s face and body.

Although Blue Artichoke Films especially appeal to women, all our films will appeal to the many men who enjoy watching hot sex between sexy people in new situations.
